If you are going to take a supplement then it is my opinion you should take the best that you can, and with something like fish oil you want to make sure you take a pure fish oil capsule. Now this can be easier said than done, because as always when a product becomes popular then more manufacturers enter the arena and the quality of the product can deteriorate, and as a consumer sometimes we are not sure as to what we are actually getting. However if you follow the information listed below then you will be able to buy a pure fish oil supplement no problem.
The first thing that you want to find out is how fresh the fish used is. The reason for finding this out is that quite a few producers buy their fish from trawlers that have spent a long time at sea; now when a boat is at sea a long time they have to freeze the fish. I used to accept this as normal procedure but what I have since learned is that this can actually make the fish go rancid. Now as bad as rancid sounds if you take a capsule made from fish in this state what you will find is that it will repeat on you giving you lots of fishy tasting burps, which I can tell you from personal experience are disgusting.
The other area you need to be vigilant in for sourcing pure fish oil is that the oil has gone through a process of being molecularly distilled. Simply put this means that the fish has been purified; unfortunately not all companies do this, and what this means to the end consumer is that any pollution in the fish will go into the person who takes the tablet made from the fish. Now, when you take into consideration that a lot of these fish are caught in areas that are heavily fished and therefore are highly polluted then I am sure you can see that taking these kind of supplements could potentially make your health worse in the long run.
If you keep an eye out for these two things on there own then you are on the right track for getting a pure fish oil, but there are some other things you need to check before getting your supplements, the main thing being the DHA levels.
I explain more about the DHA levels at my website, plus a resource you can check out for getting pure fish oil. You can find the site at http://best-supplements.info
